Jesus Heals
If only people would simply do the right things for the right reasons at all times the world would be a much better place. Instead, we allow politics, favoritism, and etcetera to get in the way of simply doing the right thing.
In Matthew 12:9-14 Jesus is confronted once again by the Pharisees as they try to question his actions.
“9Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 10and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"
11He said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."
13Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 14But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.”
The Pharisees were more concerned with “rules” than humanity. They put their laws over human need! Jesus, being the man he is, went against the Pharisees rules as his conviction to do right supersede the laws of the Pharisees. As Christ followers, our conviction to honor God and do God’s will should supersede everything!
Application:
1. Read Matthew 12:9-14
2. Do you allow human factors to keep you from doing the right thing all the time?
