Unselfish Love
Jesus is the perfect example of love. He loved those that loved him, and he loved those that didn’t believe in him. He treated everyone with unconditional love no matter what their backgrounds were. He didn’t love people for what they had or could provide. He simply loved people for who they were, and one thing we should all strive to do is love people the way Jesus Christ loved others. Matthew 10:40-42 says the following:
40"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. 41Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward. 42And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."
It’s been said that how much we love God can be measured by how much we love others. We are called to love people unconditionally. Meaning, you may not agree with how people live their lives, and you may not even want to hang out with them, but you are still called to love them for they are a child of God. Be a living example to others as to how God wants us to live, so they may turn away from the way they currently live and fix their eyes on the eternal. Do the right thing at all times for the right reasons and God will truly bless you!
Application:
1. Read Matthew 10
2. Do you demonstrate your love for God by the way you treat others?
