Surprise

Life is full of surprises, and this past weekend I received a major surprise from all of my friends and wife. Though my birthday is on September 16th, my wife and I were going out to dinner for my birthday on the weekend like we do every year, but this year she decided to pack a private room with a bunch of my friends without me knowing it! I can only imagine the stress she went through to plan a surprise party for me, but like she always does, she pulled it off perfectly.

Life is full of surprises, some good, and some bad, and we must come to expect and embrace them. Life would be pretty boring if the road were perfectly straight. God allows bumps in the road, just like he allows surprise birthday parties. There will be great, good, and bad surprises in life that you don’t have any control over, but what we do have control over is the way we respond to life’s surprises. We have limited control to the things that come our way, but we have all the control as to how we respond. Do all you can to show God’s love no matter what type of surprises come your way, and do all you can to provide joyful surprises for others!

It’s easy to take things for granted, as we all have a lot to be thankful for, so focus on the blessings and be a blessing to others. Thank you all for making my birthday so amazing. This was one surprise I will never forget!
