Here's Your Sign

Here’s Your Sign

There’s been many times in my life where I’ve asked God for answers, yet I may have done a poor job of listening. It reminds me of the guy that was warned of a flood, yet chose not to evacuate. All of the local news stations were informing all the residents in the county to evacuate immediately due to rising waters. This one gentleman said, “I’ll be okay, God will save me.”

He then heard a banging on his front door, and it was his neighbor begging him to leave immediately as he was sure to die if he stayed home. To which the man replied, “I’ll be okay, God will save me.” In short order, the water level had risen and the man was now looking out the window on the second story of his home watching the water rush by when a man pulled up in a boat, and begged him to get in. To which the man replied, “I’ll be okay, God will save me.” The man in the boat then sped off to save as many people as he could.

Now the man is standing on the roof of his house watching the water levels flood his entire home when a helicopter flew over and dropped a rope ladder. The rescue men in the helicopter begged the man to grab the rope, but he wouldn’t do it. All he said was, “I’ll be okay, God will save me.”

Finally, the man drowned and went to Heaven. The man was confused, so he asked God what happened, as he remained faithful during the floods and trusted that God would save him. God replied, “I sent you a neighbor, a boat, and a helicopter. What more could I have sent to rescue you!”

As was the case with the man in the story, we too find ourselves in situations we could have avoided had we simply paid attention to the answered prayers God sends our way. It’s one thing to be faithful and prayerful, and it’s just as important to listen and see the signs God gives us.

Application:
1. How is your prayer life?
2. Are you seeking His answers?
